Gathering Prayer
P O God, our Maker, Redeemer, and Comforter, we are assembled in your presence to hear your holy Word. We pray that you would open our hearts by your Holy Spirit, that through the preaching of your Word we may be taught to repent of our sins, to believe in Jesus in life and in death, and to grow day by day in grace and holiness. Hear us for Christ’s sake. C Amen.

Brief Order for Confession and Forgiveness
Leader In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Cong. Amen
L Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open and all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. C Amen.
Leader In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.L Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open and all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
L If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (Silence is kept for reflection) Most merciful God,
C We confess that we are in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.
L Almighty God, in his mercy, has given his Son to die for us, and for his sake, forgives us all our sins. As a called and ordained minister of the Church of Christ, and by his authority, I therefore declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. C Amen.

WELCOME TO WORSHIP!
Worshippers are invited to sign the yellow welcome insert. Your public prayer concerns will be shared in worship, while your private prayer concerns will be kept within the weekly prayer fellowship group. Please place in the offering plate or give to an usher.
Holy Communion is served the first and third weekend of each month. We believe that Christ is truly present in the Sacrament, and that through this gift, we receive the forgiveness of our sins, life, and salvation. Visitors who commune in their home congregations are welcome at the table. If you would like to receive communion but are unable to come forward, please notify an usher, who will direct a server to bring the elements to you. White grape juice is available on Sundays for those who prefer it.
Listening devices for those who are hard of hearing are available during Sunday worship from an usher.
Children’s activity bags are located by the entrance to the worship space. Children’s bulletins also available from an usher.
The Radio Broadcast is sponsored to the glory of God in honor of Rev. Will Olsen’s birthday (today) by Geri Olsen and family.
Flowers on the Altar are given to the glory of God in honor of all Families by Linda & Don Fleeger.
All are invited to join us for coffee fellowship in the dining hall following Sunday worship. Thank you to Kris & Mike Matthews and Lacey & Clinton Matthews for serving. An elevator, located in the overflow room, is available for your use.

February Mission of the Month is Lutheran Campus Ministries. The mission of Campus Ministry in the ELCA is to invite people in academic settings more deeply into Jesus Christ and the community that bears His name, so they can discover and fulfill their vocations as disciples. It gives young people who are away from their home congregations a church home.
Many young people from St. John’s and our other area churches are very actively involved in their campus ministries. Many have gone on outreach trips over their vacations to disadvantaged areas and ministered to people through various projects.
The campus ministries your gifts will support include:
Lutheran Campus Ministry, Aberdeen,
University Lutheran Center, Brookings,
Lutheran Campus Ministry, Rapid City and Black Hills State at Spearfish,
The Luther Center, Vermillion.
We hope to have one of our young people speak to us in February about their campus ministry. You are invited to set aside a special offering for this vital work.
