SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF WEBSTER, SOUTH DAKOTA
Council room, City Hall, Webster, South Dakota, June 20, 2011, at 5:30 p.m. a special meeting was held with Mayor Mike Grosek presiding. Councilmen present: Dave Jesme, Wally Pribyl, Roger Monson, Wayne Klungseth, and Morgan Dorsett. Staff: Linda Hoberg.
This being within the time limit for the official canvass of votes of the June 14th special election. The governing board canvassed the votes, declaring the results as follows:
For opt out of tax limitation of $164,000.00 each year for a period of 20 years.
Yes Votes 467
No Votes 216
The tax levy will increase by the amount of the opt out with the yes votes having received the majority of all the votes cast in the City of Webster. Motion by Pribyl, seconded by Monson approving the election returns. All councilmen voting aye. Motion carried.
The malt beverage license for the Day County Inn and Suites was scheduled for renewal by the council at this meeting but the City has not received the completed application. The current malt beverage license for the Day County Inn and Suites will expire on June 30, 2011.
Motion by Monson, seconded by Pribyl to advertise for sealed bids for paving approximately eight blocks of City streets. Bids will be opened at a special meeting of the council at City Hall at 5:30 p.m. on July 11, 2011. All councilmen voting aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Monson, seconded by Dorsett to advertise for sealed bids for building a roof over the bleachers at the ball field complex to be opened at 5:40 p.m. on July 11, 2011, at City Hall. All councilmen voting aye. Motion carried.
Mayor Grosek read a letter from SD Dept. of Environment and Natural Resources congratulating the City on receiving the Decade of Drinking Water Excellence Award.
The City was contacted about advertising for the Liquor Store and Golf Course in the Pickerel Lake Directory. No action taken.
Lonnie Anderson with Clark Engineering sent a letter to the City regarding the start and end dates of construction on the new lagoon. Due to the wet conditions of the project site, the contractor will be allowed an additional three weeks to complete major construction, extending the final completion date to September 8, 2011.
No further business, motion to adjourn by Jesme, seconded by Klungseth. Motion carried.
